Tucked away in the heart of Sussex Weald, this striking 18th-century coaching inn is renowned for its excellent food, friendly service, and Georgian grandeur. As well as a warm welcome from the staff, you’ll find it’s an inn packed with historical touches throughout, including a secret 75ft deep well.
For nature lovers, Ashdown Forest, home to the most famous of bears, Winnie-the-Pooh, is a short journey away, as is the rest of gorgeous High Weald and its wonderful walking paths and cycling lanes. History lovers can enjoy over 30 castles, manor houses and gardens dotted across High Weald, plus the nostalgic fun of Bluebell Steam Railway. You’ll also have easy access to local towns like East Grinstead and Royal Tunbridge Wells, and Brighton and the coast is only 20 miles away.
Accommodation
When it’s time to time to turn in, you’ll find each of their 17 bedrooms are filled with character, comfort and modern touches. Some have wooden floorboards, some a classic four-poster bed, but all are well equipped and beautifully furnished. The beds are large and cosy, whilst each room has an en-suite bathroom, a flatscreen TV and free Wi-Fi. Relax in a deep bath, then get cosy in the comfy beds.
Dining
The restaurant serves a delicious selection of traditional British pub classics. Choose from sizzling steaks, succulent burgers, lighter bites, plus a range of fine wines and real ales. In the morning, you can wake up to a tasty Full English or continental breakfast to set you up for the day ahead.
